REQUIREMENTS FOR LOCAL APPLICANTS
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada (SIN, Work VISA, etc.).
- Within the last 3 years, you must have completed six months caregiver/nanny training or have one year
experience in paid employment as a nanny / caregiver
- Standard First Aid/CPR training is an asset.
- Must obtain a police clearance certificate if applying to be a caregiver for children. Check with your local
police station for the fee and processing time.
- References from present and past employers. (2 to 3 references)
- A portrait photo so we can place you on our website.
- APPLICANT QUESTIONNAIRE - LOCAL Print out the attached application provided. You can fill in the
blanks online and then print the form.
REQUIREMENTS FOR OVERSEAS APPLICANTS
- Must have a minimum of two years College or University education. (Equivalent to a
Canadian High School education). This requirement will help to ensure that if you apply for
permanent residence after two years as a live-in Caregiver, you will be able to succeed in
the general labour market.
- Ability to speak, read and understand English at a level that allows you to function
independently in a home setting. For example, you must be able to contact emergency
services if required and to understand labels on medication.
- Within the last 3 years, you must have completed six months caregiver/nanny training or
have one year experience in paid employment as a live-in caregiver.
- Copy of valid passport.
- Copies of educational certificates, transcripts and/or diplomas for High School, College and
University.
- References from present and past employers. A reference from your present employer is
required once you get a job offer.
- Copies of your current employment contract.
- Certificate copy of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for VISA purposes.
- Two to three recent photos. These photos should include a) a full body picture and b) a picture with
children/elderly. Remember to SMILE for the camera.
- APPLICANT QUESTIONNAIRE - OVERSEAS Print out the attached application provided. You
can fill in the blanks online and then print the form or fill out the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.
- A “Dear Family letter”. This is a letter to your prospective employer. It should contain the
following information:
-discuss your life and family
-talk about your education and job experiences – stress the positive, not negative
-talk about your current employment situation – stress the positive, not negative
-describe your personality - what sets you apart from other candidates – this is where you
should explain to your prospective employer why they should hire you over other candidates
-your plans for the future and the reason why you want to come to Canada.
